The Weekly Shift

SHIFTY NATION:

After a week of searching all corners of the internet, we are back with another installment of “The Weekly Shift”.

For this edition, we have rounded up tracks from some familiar Shifty affiliates  as well as some up and comers that are sure to make some noise in the future…

To start thing’s off, we have owner of Tuff Wax Records and recently released Mad Decent/Jeffree’s artist Lockah‘s latest work, a brass heavy hip-hop tune by the name of “Clock’s Ticking“.The track is truly reflective of the sound and style the young Scottish producer has acquired over the years, and shares many similarities to the overall electronically, video game sound influenced, gut busting feel of his Mad Decent/Jeffree’s EP. You can listen to the track below through Lockah’s Soundcloud and pick up a free copy via FACT Mag

Our second selection comes from Chicago based producer Bengfang, someone we have been keeping our eye on for awhile now. “Yernin” kicks off immediately with an infectious vocal sample and tightly programmed drum beat that carries throughout the track, giving it a rhythmic progression that makes head bobbing inevitable. Check it out below and be sure to grab your copy when the up and coming producer drops his second EP “The Imperial Grade” via his Soundcloud…

This next one is from LA based producer and good friend of the Shifty family, ETC! ETC!  and Australian producer Spenda C. The track is called “In the Bank“, and is an all around showcase of the power these two producers have showcased over the last few months, experimenting in various realms of bass music. The signature vocal chops of ETC!ETC! keep you muttering the title of the track for the entire roller coaster of a ride, while the dizzying lazer like synths characteristic of Spenda C give this one enough carnival rave vibes to get your blood flowing. The boys were kind enough to give away the track for free, so check out the full stream below, grab your copy here (DOWNLOAD), and throw some of that money you saved in the bank…

The next track is the official remix of one of the summer’s biggest releases, Jim-E Stack‘s “Bubble Boy”, released via the Los Angeles based Body High imprint, owned and operated by close friends of ours and former Get Shifty headliners, Samo Sound Boy and Jerome of LOL Boys. The remix comes to us from Nashville based producer MYRRYRS who applies his eclectic blend of Dubstep, Garage and House influenced sound to give an already well rounded track a life of it’s own. The original is very much reflective of Jim-E Stack’s appreciation for Southern Hip-Hop and New Orleans Bounce, and although MYRRYRS took the downtempo approach on this one, he created a powerful piece which pays homage to those similar genres, all while maintaing the integrity of his own sound. Check it out below and grab your own copy via Dummy Mag by clicking HERE

To finish things off, we have a track from Team Bayside High‘s most recent EP “Loudpack”, out now via JFK of MSTRKRFT‘s Teenage Riot Records. “Overdrawn” is all over the place, yet somehow it has all the structure and form you need. With frantically wild breaks, buildups that lead to minimal melodies, punchy percussion and one shot samples that will have your ears pointing up in all directions, this one is wildly repetitive enough to where it almost loses you, just to suck you right back in. Check it out for yourself and pick up a free copy below…

Stay Shifty
