As of now you surely know what this post is all about. The Weekly Shift is officially in full effect, and we are pleased to bring you a selection of music from friends, family, and all those that inspire us, on a consistent basis. Without further ado, let’s jump right into this weeks roundup…

The first track comes to us from local Los Angeles rapper ScHoolboy Q, who has seen recent rise in succes through such tracks as “Hands on tHe WHeel” and “There He Go”, both viral video sensations off of his sophmore release “Habits & Contradictions” via Top Dawg Entertainment (of Kendrick Lamar fame). Los Angeles based TDE seems to have launched a plan for weekly releases from all 4 members of Black Hippy (Kendrick Lamar, ScHoolboy Q, Jay Rock & Ab-Soul) and “Party” is the first in this series of releases from ScHoolboy Q. Going in on a beat by Kenny Beats which samples the “I wanna rock right now” line from Rob Base & DJ E-Z Rock’s “It Takes Two”, Q excercises his vast range and signature raw style to only further what is becoming the new face of West Coast Hip-hop. Keep an eye on TDE the next couple weeks for some quality material and unique raps from some of the finest MC’s in the game and be sure to grab a free download of every single release on their Soundcloud…

Our next selection comes to us from RudeToon Records head honcho, Beateaz. The tune is called “Bust It”, and is a heavy hitting Moombahton joy ride, showcasing the young producers attention to detail in synth design and drum programming.  Beateaz has been nice enough to offer up the track for download via the RudeToon Soundcloud, so be sure to grab your free copy below…

It only feels right to post this next release in it’s entiriety due to the personal attachment we here at Shifty Rhythms have to the following producer. ETC! ETC! has been a friend to many of us in the crew since he first began to make his rise in the Moombahton scene both here in Los Angeles and abroad, garnering plays on BBC Radio and international support from such names as Kissy Sell Out and DJ Kayper. After succesful releases on Mad Decent/Jeffrees, AC Slater’s Party Like Us Records and several other labels in the bass music scene, ETC! ETC! has teamed up with up and coming Los Angeles based producer Brillz and the one and only Diplo to bring you his newest release on Mad Decent’s “Jeffree’s” imprint, “Bueller”. The three track EP consists of Swoop, and an instrumental version of the title track as well as a vocal version with treatment by Chuck Inglish from The Cool Kids. We here at Shifty Rhythms cannot emphasize enough how proud we are of someone whom we have grown so close to in the past year and how their hard work and dedication to their craft is beginning to pay off. Next up we have a track by another one of our close friends, Random Citizens frontman Marvel The Gr8. You may have heard the young MC’s name pop up on tracks such as Major Lazer – Original Don (The KiD & Marvel The Gr8 Remix) and Planet Rock – LAZRBEAM (The KiD & Korova Remix), or even seen his video for his recent single “She’s A Fox”, and should know how serious this kid takes all aspects of being an artist. From his own unique style in the way he dresses to the way he flows, Marvel is local Los Angeles artist on the rise that deserves all the attention he commandingly demands with his demeanor. Check out his latest video below (Directed by Brooks Miller) for a track titled “No Time For Sleep”,with a dark and dream beat produced by fellow Random Citizen member Brian Polar, which builds over time and even samples parts of Marvel’s lyrics throughout the track…

The last track in this week’s roundup comes to us from forward thinking San Francisco based producer and owner of Symbols Recordings, Kastle, and is a beautiful bass heavy rendition of Frank Ocean’s “Pyramids”, the first single off of his debut album “Channel Orange”. Kastle has been an established producer for quite some time now, so the quality of the production and complexity of sounds paired with his unique approach to bass music comes as no surprise to us, all whilst somehow pleasantly surprising us. It’s a feeling that can only be described by listening to the track and looking back at the progression of his sound over time. All in all, it’s a great track to have on repeat as Summer winds down and we prepare for Fall. Kastle kindly decided to unlock the download for everyone after the track received such a positive response online, so you can grab your free copy below via his Soundcloud…
