The Weekly Shift

Posted 05 September 2012 | The Weekly Shift

Red Panda Faithful:

It’s time to give back to you like we do every week with a collection of free music that’s sure to tingle every musical tastebud…

To start things of for this week, we bring you a free, hard hood techno tune from our friend and budding LA producer, Valentino Khan. Valentino has been dabbling in all realms of music, with official remixes for big time artists such as The Bloody Beetroots and Craze, to his own solo release on Mad Decent and production credits for B.O.B. and T.I. His newest work comes in the form a track called “Cigarettes”, which once again shows Valentino breaking the confines of a single genre producer. The track is nothing like we have heard from him n the past, however, it somehow still has that Valentino Khan bounce that has been raising ears all over for the past few months. The young producer was nice enough to colloborate with our friends over at Gotta Dance Dirty to release this track for free, so check it out below and grab your free copy via GDD…

Next up we have a track from up and coming bass producers Antiserum and Mayhem, titled “Brick Squad Anthem”. The track is an absolute monster on a quality sound system, and has been supported by numerous big names over the past few weeks. Antiserum and Mayhem cleverly utilize Waka Flocka Flame‘s “Brick Squad” drop and pitch the vocal into a melody that will leave your head spinning and begging for more. The tune is absolutely infectious. Nothing but fun vibes on this one. Another free download courtesy of the young producers, available via their Soundcloud’s, here and here

It seems to be the Summer of anthem’s, and we here at Shifty Rhythms are completely fine with that. The next track is from Rotterdam’s finest, and perhaps one of the most humble producers in the game, Munchi. The man has been ahead of the curve for the past couple of years, dabbling in genres people had never heard of until he introduced them. This new track seems to be no different, as Munchi takes us on another wild ride with “Dipset Anthem”. Given away for free via Clubtapes in anticipation of his “Trapaholics Presents: Trap Bubbling” EP, the Dutch producers homage to legendary Brooklyn hip-hop crew Dipset (The Diplomats), is truly something unique.  With all the signature Munchi and 808 sounds blending together in harmony, the track manages to remain cohesive whilst drastically changing rhythm and tempo. Grab the track HERE, and check out the rest of Munchi’s outstanding productions on his Soundcloud

Staying in the hip-hop realm of Harlem rappers and Dipset, the next selection we bring forth is a track titled “Freeze”, off of the recent compilation mixtape from the A$AP Mob. With signature dream like production from Clams Casino, who produced five tracks for A$AP Rocky’s “LiveLoveA$AP“, and a feature alongside Rocky from Dipset member and Harlem’s own, Jim Jones, “Freeze” is a track that brings together two eras of rap music from a region that has been respected for that artform for many years. You can stream the entire mixtape “Lord$ Never Worry”, featuring all members of the crew as well as cameo’s from Fools Gold’s Danny Brown, Wu-Tang Clan’s Raekwon, and a beat by Araabmuzik, and pick up your free copy via DatPiff here

Last but not least, we have another collaboration from our friends and Los Angeles natives, ETC! ETC! and Brillz. The boys recently teamed up with Diplo to bring us their “Bueller” EP, featuring a track by the same title as well as the highly energetic “Swoop”, via Mad Decent’s rising imprint Jeffrees. In spirit of giving their fans a lot of free music recently, they have released their version of the classic Pharoahe Monch track “Simon Says” via their Soundcloud’s (here and here)…you guessed it…FOR FREE. The tune stays true to the original while giving it that new flare fitting for any occasion or dance floor. We here at Shifty love when ETC! ETC! and Brillz team up, and are anxiously looking forward what the two up and coming producers will bring forth to the table in the next couple of months…

Stay Shifty,

~Nold
